Farming chemistry – or “plant medicines” – work hard to protect our food supply and health. Properly applied soil fumigants allow growers to maximize field usage with shorter crop rotational intervals and greater yields suitable for sale.
Soil is complex and creates a refuge for plant pests, such as insects, weeds, bacteria, fungi, and nematodes. These destructive pathogens can be devastating to a crop. Many common soil-borne issues can be controlled with soil fumigation.
The chemical properties that make fumigants so effective in managing difficult-to-control soil pests and diseases require caution and proper handling. Douglas Ag is a champion of field performance, public safety, and environmental stewardship.
Our team has agriculture and science-related degrees, years of applicable field work, and ongoing company safety and regulatory training.
Fumigations are well-planned, thoroughly documented, and strictly regulated. They require formal Fumigation Management Plans and Post Application Summaries.
Product and application scrutiny keep handlers, applicators, and bystanders safe. Worker Protection Standards and Good Agricultural Practices are a must.
All soil fumigants are considered Restricted Use Pesticides (RUPs) and undergo rigorous research and testing before getting label approval.
Local farming has provided an affordable, diverse food supply and long-term economic stability. Fumigation helps us use our precious resources wisely.
Product Development is ongoing as our R&D works and refines chemical formulations. New products take years of study and trials.
